Yes, I wanted to use it to slice potatoes but the resulting slices were potato chip thin. There's no way to adjust the thickness and no additional tool you can buy to solve the problem. It's challenging to push potatoes through the slicer at times. It seems to work best with soft veggies. The lack of instructions on how to use the finger guard is a problem. No, it's not obvious and figuring it out caused me to slice my palm. I think they would be better off focusing on fewer fancy cutting options and improve upon a few basic options to make them better. It's not terribly sturdy, but as long as you use it only for soft veggies, it's ok. When this one breaks, I will definitely replace it with something better.
