Interesting space saving design. Convenient and well made.
Update: I changed the rating from 4 stars to 5. After about two months the main complaint of toast not being brown on the bottom has changed. I'm not sure why, but the toast is now evenly brown all over an dit browns quicker than before. ??? Maybe the elements needed to "burn in"? Whatever the problem was, it seems to be resolved now. Hooray!
Our toaster bit the dust and we haven't had a toaster oven in years so we thought it was a clever idea to combine both and it is with one drawback (the bottom 1/2" -1" so of the toast doesn't brown due to the placement of the elements. It's not a dealbreaker for me because what it does brown is nice and even. The whole slice feels toasted, it's just not all brown. (see update above) You need to hold the toaster lever down for a couple seconds for it to catch and start toasting. You can't just push it down and release. I like that there is a cancel button and you can lift the toast slightly to help in removing it. It's handy that you can toast different shapes of bread in the wide slot.
I like the overall size of this oven. It doesn't take up a lot of space in the kitchen. Not much more than the large 4 slice toaster we had. The controls are easy to use and not complicated like some. You do have to turn on the timer to get the oven to work. It has a pleasant timer alert, a must for my husband. Note, the alert only works with the oven, not the toaster. I like that the toaster part closes when not in use by pushing a lever. The oven heats up quickly. We've used the broiler a lot and it works great. I like that you can prop the door partly open to allow heat to dissipate after use. I bought a set of pans made for toaster ovens and am glad I did. It makes it much more versatile.
My only real issue is that the whole thing gets quite hot. We didn't put it under a low overhanging cabinet for that reason. You don't want to touch the edges of door (the handle is fine) or outside parts of the oven when taking food out. I got several small burns when I used it the first couple times. I'm more aware now.
Overall it's a great little toaster/oven and we're happy with our choice.

The separate toaster is a nice feature
I had a toaster oven, like most others. It was slow to make toast but did an OK job. I saw this unit with its unique toaster feature and had to try it. It toasts so much quicker and super even. The oven portion is not very large but works for a quick reheat or small meal. I have a regular over for anything more.

Love this toaster oven!
The top-load toaster feature works perfectly. I purchased a nonstick bakeware set and oven mat for it as well. It also bakes perfectly, and using the mat on the crumb tray is a great way to keep it clean. I couldn't be more satisfied with it!

Only one on the market with separate traditional toaster slots
Bought this because my old toaster finally died after many years. Our family likes a toaster oven with a separate traditional toaster slot included. This is the only one on the market. It is different k that the slits are above the oven. It does the job. My only complaint is that it gets extremely hot. With kids it is a worry as a small child could potentially hurt themselves. Luckily my kids are old enough to not to touch the toaster oven. Overall I’m happy as it was the only option for what I wanted. Size is average. Controls are easy to use.

Toaster/Oven
The Hamilton Beach toaster/oven is great. I had my last one for over 40yrs. This one can toast bagels, etc. from the top and bake in the oven. Wonderful product! Highly recommend.

Great space saving and functional appliance! Strongly recommend.
We have had this for 4 years now and it has been a great thing to have in the kitchen. We wanted the kids to be able to toast waffles and bread without burning themselves, but didn't want 2 appliances on the countertop. This solves that. Is fairly easy to clean and heats up pretty quickly. I actually find that I can toast 4 pieces of bread or bagels at a time when in toast more. Just open up the toaster oven pay and put the bagels in the face up. It gets pretty hot and speeds up the process of tossing more than 2 things at a time. I wish they had this with air fryer capabilities so if your reading this Hamilton Beach…!

Metal is very thin. Smaller than others.
The Bad: Area to cook in is very small. Also, a 12" pie plate doesn't fit – about 1/4" to small. The metal over the toaster area is very thin.
The Good: Does the job as far as cooking – in fact the compact space makes it cook more quickly than the recipe calls for. The toaster does a decent job – although, it is harder to get the toast out than in a regular toaster as they don't come up as far. Overall, it does the job.

Works and is durable!
I originally bought this back in 2020 because my previous countertop oven stopped working. A lot of models have a settings/functions style push buttons that eventually wear out due to the heating elements being so close by design. I was looking for a countertop oven that did not have that destined-to-fail feature and I found it in this!
My now husband originally thought that the additional toaster feature was a bit gimmicky, but we use it practically every day! Our kiddos use it too, so we are probably using it 3 to 4 times each day and have been since 2020 and it’s still going strong 🙂
